2014 Heritage Day Colouring Contest Winners

Yukoners were encouraged to celebrate Heritage Day by thinking about the Yukon's historical & cultural heritage and participating in the colouring contest found in the Yukon News. Participants were asked to name their favourite heritage place or activity. This year's theme is "have fun with heritage by celebrating historic places made for play".

Winners were drawn from all completed entries received, and will be announced in the Yukon News.

This year's winning submissions are:

1st Place, Maeve McDowell:

"I like watching the Yukon Quest race. One time, I was watching the dogs come in and I got 'Lucky's' bootie. This race is unique to our Territory."

Maeve will receive a Parks Canada Family Discovery Pass that provides unlimited entry to almost 100 National Parks and Historic Sites for a year

2nd Place, Adelle Anderson:

"My favourite thing to do is go to the church and have sourdough pancakes."

Adelle will receive a Family Pass for Parks Canada's "Then and Now" tour in Dawson City

3rd Place, Cole Germain:

"My favourite heritage activity is the Yukon Quest Race. Dogsledding is a big part of the Yukon's history. It was the way to travel in the past. It is a lot of fun to watch the mushers and their dogs!"

Cole will receive a Yukon Historic Sites Prize Pack.
