A Virtual Discussion on December 8, 2020, 9:30 am - 12:00 pm (Yukon time)
YHMA invites you to join us for the 2020 Yukon Heritage Symposium! This free event will look a little bit different this year, as we come together via Zoom for a discussion centered on advocacy. Call-in options are available for those unable to connect online.
Advocacy plays a vital role in the work of all community organizations. From advancing an organization’s mission to improving the quality of people’s lives and building networks within the heritage sector sector, advocacy engages people in causes they care about. This session is an opportunity for staff, directors, and volunteers engaged in museums, cultural centres, historic sites, and community organizations to share ideas and engage in conversations on how advocacy can strengthen individual organizations and the Yukon’s heritage sector as a whole.
The purposes of this session are to discuss:
- the role(s) of advocacy today especially in this “new era”
- successes and challenges of advocacy from different perspectives
- ways to strengthen relationships between and among Yukon organizations
