Call for Pecha Kucha Presentations

Yukon by Yukoners: Pleistocene to Present

October 1, 2022
Live-streamed and in person at Whitehorse
Yukon Historical and Museums Association

Deadline for Proposals: May 31, 2022

Pecha kucha translates as “the sound of conversation” or “chit-chat” in Japanese.

The PechaKucha creators wanted a space to share ideas and messages through presentations. To avoid rambling speakers, they set time and slide limits. This forces the presenter to creatively arrange their message within a strict form. Such creativity often produces amazing results.

PechaKucha is a presentation form of 20 images for 20 seconds each. The slides change automatically and the speaker must synchronise their speech with the images. The entire presentation lasts for exactly 6 minutes and 40 seconds.

Yukoners always enjoy sharing their stories. This evening will be a celebration of these stories, with the theme of “Living and Working in the Yukon.” We will be exploring the Yukon identity and how it has changed, or stayed the same, over time.
