This year's AGM will take place at the Yukon Beringia Interpretive Centre in Whitehorse on Tuesday, June 16th, starting at 6pm. Please note that only members in good standing are eligible to vote. Memberships can be renewed at the door, prior to the AGM. Your Support is integral to YHMA's continued efforts to inspire and share a passion for Yukon heritage.

We will be harnessing the power of 21st century technology to help connect members from the communities.

Amid shifts in education, marketing and visitor services, understand how museums are adopting new practices and programs to engage audiences as they reconsider their roles in the community and the roles of their visitors.

This online workshop focuses on questions around UNESCO’s recognition of Intangible Cultural Heritage; its identification, protection and sustainability; the role of the associated community; and, the connection of intangible heritage to tangible heritage – place and object. Participants will identify issues and critique intangible heritage practices from around the world. Live, real-time sessions combine theoretical discussion with practical examples.

Gain hands on experience with the historic buildings of Skagway & White Pass HIstoric District!

This class will introduce participants to the basics of wood windows & door restoration, including stripping, glazing, wood and glass repairs, & refinishing.

It will also answer basic questions, such as:

-why do we preserve historic buildings?

The Tourism Industry Association of the Yukon (TIA) is holding its annual Spring Conference in Dawson City from April 16-18, 2015.

The theme of this year's spring conference will revolve around storytelling, with an emphasis on cultural tourism. TIA has lined up a great set of workshop facilitators and keynote presenters, including Ron James, Inga Petrie, and Dale Jarvis.
