The Yukon Stikine Regional Heritage Fair is held at the beginning of May each year. The Heritage Fairs program is a bilingual educational initiative that encourages students to explore an aspect of Canadian heritage in a dynamic and captivating learning environment. Students use the media of their choice to share their learning about Canadian heroes and legends, milestones and achievements - and then proudly present the results of their research at a public exhibition.

Coordinated by YG's Museums Unit, the annual Museums Roundtable brings together staff and managers at Yukon museums, First Nation cultural centres and interpretive centres to discuss important issues. The Roundtable is open to Museums Unit clients and invited guests.

The Alaska Historical Society and Museums Alaska are holding their joint conference in Cordova, Alaska, September 30 to October 3,2015. The theme of this year's conference is "Trade Routes and Crossroads in the North Pacific".

The Alaska Historical Society’s keynote speaker this year will be Alaska State Writer Laureate Frank Soos of Fairbanks who will share his ideas about writing as a craft and exploring archives to produce local history gems.

The 2014 Yukon Heritage Awards will be presented in conjunction with a celebration of Heritage Day on Monday, February 16th. The free public event will take place at the Yukon Archives (400 College Drive, Whitehorse). Doors open at 5:30pm, and the event will begin at 6pm. 

Please join others in the Yukon heritage community to recognize and celebrate those who have gone above and beyond in the name of heritage.

International Museums Day is celebrated annually on May 18th.

This year’s theme for the event will be Museums for a sustainable society. It highlights the role of museums in raising public awareness about the need for a society that is less wasteful, more cooperative and that uses resources in a way that respects living systems.
