Historical Costume Life Drawing

Tuesday, August 24, 2021

Note: Due to the potential of rain, this event will be moved to LePage Park.

Join instructor Sheelah Tolton in front of the S.S. Klondike National Historic Site for the exciting opportunity to draw a model in period costume! This relaxed class perfect for all skill levels will be broken into a first half of short poses to warm up with instruction on how to simplify paths of motion, shapes, and shadows in order to get the figure down quickly but accurately, while in the second half we will use the longer poses to focus more deeply on the nuances of rendering fabrics and fashion.

YHMA staff will also be sharing heritage snippets about a few Whitehorse characters and buidlings from the early 1900s. Learn about some history while you learn to draw it! Many thanks to Parks Canada for the use of their space in front of the S.S. Klondike National Historic Site.

YHMA and YAS members get 10% off on registration, but make sure to register early as spaces are limited! Contact us at programs.heritageyukon@gmail.com for more info, and visit this page to register.
