Yukon National Gathering - Aboriginal Curatorial Collective

Wednesday, September 28, 2016 to Friday, September 30, 2016

The Yukon National Gathering will be an opportunity to talk about facilitating the role of art, art-making and curatorial practices between Nations, curators, artists and community members. We are thinking about how this exchange influences and expands cultures. We propose to abandon panels and papers, and replace these with Indigenous modes of exchange, such as; sharing circles, workshops, inclusion of elders and knowledge-keepers. Through these meeting formats we want to shape conversations that will support building connections but will also help contribute to the larger Indigenous art making that is happening.

The ACC/CCA is interested in building community and making community connections. The nature of the gathering is about collaboration, and sharing our unique perspectives and knowledges as Indigenous Nations.

ABOUT US: The Aboriginal Curatorial Collective / Collectif des commissaires autochtones (ACC/CCA) is a national arts service organization that supports, promotes, and advocates on behalf of Canadian and international Aboriginal curators, critics, artists, and representatives of arts and cultural organizations. The ACC/CCA develops and disseminates curatorial practices, innovative research and critical discourses on Aboriginal arts and culture. By fostering collaboration and exchange the ACC/CCA builds an equitable space for the Aboriginal intellectual and artistic community.

There is a lot of information about each of our members, our past projects and of our organization history on our website (www.acc-cca.com). Feel free to check it out and/or contact us if you want to learn more.
